UNDYING HOME

In this dance and photography installation in Taipei, Legakis used photography and bamboo sculptures to portray the inter-relationship between Nature, the human Body and Home. The dance was seen as the unity between photography and the Bamboo sculpture; the same way as the human Body is the unity between Home and Nature. The Bamboo-House sculpture was made in such a way that a dancer could move it in space almost falling but it never fell; the Undying Home.

Undying Home

Home is usually seen as a fixed architectural and limited place. Undying Home is the feeling of home that arises from within by an interaction with nature, with any-body at any-place connecting from a heart space. We are truly at home in our hearts when we feel and connect with our ‘SOMA’ which in Greek means the poised union between the Body, Mind, Heart and Spirit.

Being inspired by dance practice he captured dynamic moving and static photos that portray the space beyond the real, beyond what is tangible, so as to depict the spiritual or the energetic aspect of Nature, Body and Home. The engraved poem and paintings on bamboo show the space beyond body and mind, the spiritual aspect of the human kind who is able now to start a new beginning in a world that is currently severely wounded. The dancers, through the facilitation of Legakis, reflect and express their own interpretation of Nature, Body and Home by being stimulated from the installation and art works.
